As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of as many as 508 railway stations across the country at a cost exceeding Rs 24,470 crore, the Northeastern states of Tripura to get three rail stations revamped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The railway stations in Tripura, which are to be redeveloped at the cost of Rs. 96 crore includes, Udaipur, Kumarghat and Dharmanagar rail stations.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended a programme at Udaipur on Sunday, where the event of foundation stone laying ceremony of PM Modi was broadcasted Live. Addressing the gathering in the function, the Chief Minister Dr. Saha said that Tripura along with other states in the North-East witnessed unprecedented improvement in the rail connectivity, which perhaps had helped the state connect with rest of the parts of the country.
Dr. Saha underlined the ‘Act East Policy’ of PM Modi and said that the policy had changed the face of the North-East region of the country, which was once neglected. “The day is not far, when the state of Tripura will be linked to the neighbouring Bangladesh nation through a rail network when the people of this state will be able to reach Kolkata in 10 hours with the railways working on war footing to complete the Agartala-Akhaura rail project,” he said.
Claiming that the people of northeastern state are receiving the benefit of having a double engine government, Saha thanked the prime minister and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav for incorporating three railway stations of Tripura into the Amrit Bharat Station project.
The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Jitendra Majumder, MLA Abhishek Deb Roy and Divisional Regional Manager of Railways Premranjan Kumar among others were present in the function.
