CM Dr. Manik Saha inaugurates ‘Weekend Tourist Hub’ at Agartala to boost tourism

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated the state’s first of its kind ‘Weekend Tourist Hub’ centering the iconic Ujjayanta Prasad palace here at Agartala.

The ‘Weekend Tourist Hub’ will now be opened on every Saturday and Sunday of a week for the tourists of the state and abroad. The entertainment programme is designed mainly to expose and shed lights on the local artists.

“Apart from boosting tourism this weekend tourist hub will also benefit the local business at large,” said Dr. Saha.

Addressing the gathering in the inauguration the Chief Minister said that the government is committed to boost tourism sector of the state to enhance the state’s economy. Tripura during the last five years had seen massive transformation with the development of connectivity, which perhaps will play a crucial role in attracting more tourists in the state from abroad, he added.

He said, “The government is also planning to display traditional dresses of our 19 tribes, allowing tourists to wear them and take photographs, similar to the trend in Kashmir. This initiative reflects the state government's commitment in promoting the state’s culture and heritage.”

The weekend tourist hub will be open on every Saturday and Sunday of a week from 4 pm to 9 pm during the summers and 3 pm till 8 pm during the winters. No vehicular movement would be allowed from Sherowali Sweet Corner to Rabindra Bhawan Chowmuhni and Jackson Gate traffic point during the weekend tourist hub.
