Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday attended the high level task force meeting of the Ministry of DoNER and emphasized on development of strategic roadmaps for the establishment of industries in the North East states.
DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia chaired the video conference from Delhi and discussed planning and potential areas in agriculture and horticulture, increasing investment and development of tourism industry in the 8 states of North Eastern region.
Chief Minister Dr Saha said that it is necessary to give importance to the marketing of agricultural products by formulating a marketing policy for the North-Eastern states. During the discussion, he discussed on the development of strategic roadmaps for the establishment of industries in the respective states, establishment of urea fertilizer factories along with mineral oil, gas, coal mines, etc., development of bamboo-based industries, establishment of rubber-based industries, edible oil factories, tea industry, medicinal plant cultivation, technology sector, start-up, real estate, medical sector including investment possibilities.
The Chief Minister also emphasized on setting up of modern mills for fragrant black khasa rice produced in the state, promotion and expansion of organic farming in the state, construction of infrastructure for storage of various agricultural products, application of scientific method in banana processing, establishment of rice husk processing units etc.
“Today there is a special discussion on the potential areas in the development of the tourism industry of the 8 states of the North Eastern region,” Dr Saha said, adding that there is a need of developing a North-East Tourist Circuit to increase the revenue of the North-Eastern states and to promote and expand the tourist centers for the tourists.
The meeting discussed the promotion of culture and culture of each state including the availability of air services for the convenience of tourists in the respective states, increased investment in the tourism sector, training of guides, ensuring the safety of tourists.
In the meeting, DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia advised to take initiatives to increase the production in the agricultural field in the North-Eastern states by applying digital mapping technology, value addition of agricultural products, promotion and marketing of agricultural products through PPP model, introduction of preservation system and production of special products of 8 states.
