Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated 3D Printing Centre here at Agartala Government Dental College and said that this 3D Printing Centre is the first of its kind in the Northeast region which signifies a remarkable development in the state. He said the government is working to make the dental college of Agartala a model for the rest of the country.
Addressing the event on Tuesday, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the Agartala Government Dental College was a dream project to cater the needs of the people of this state and abroad, which was built after a lot of struggles.
This 3D Printing Centre has been set up under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) scheme, Dr Saha said, adding that the concerned administration of the college is required to use the most advanced technology to build the college as a model for the rest of the country.
The Chief Minister said that this 3D Printing Centre is the first of its kind in the Northeast region which signifies a remarkable development in the state. The government is determined to develop this college as a model college not only in the NE region but also in the country, he added.
“It is our duty to maintain the reputation of this college. The experts from the Dental Council of India had visited this college and appreciated it. That is why it is also the responsibility of the faculty members of this college to take a lead role in it,” Dr Saha said.
At the programme the chief minister also said, the first batch of Agartala Government Dental College has done excellent results which is a matter of pride. He gave the credit for this success to the faculties of this college. The chief minister informed, from next year initiative will be taken to keep some reserved seats for the students of economically weaker sections.
He said, every month three to four thousand patients come to avail treatment in this Dental College. Due to the launch of this 3D Printing facility here, patients will not have to visit the hospital so frequently. This will also minimize the pressure on the OPD. The chief minister said, health and education are among the top priority sectors of the state government.
