The 68th National School Games Under-17 Girls Judo Competition is set to kick off tomorrow at the Netaji Subhash Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC) in Agartala.
The event will run from December 12 to December 15, showcasing the judo talents of young athletes from across the nation.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the prestigious competition, according to an announcement made by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy at a press conference held today at the Secretariat Press Conference Hall.
He said that this year’s event will see participation from 27 states and 4 judo associations, bringing together 254 players and 71 officials from various parts of India. Thirteen states have already arrived, while the remaining participants are expected by tonight.
“Arrangements have been made for the accommodation of officials at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas, while competitors will stay at the NSRCC hostel and Tripura Sports School. The inaugural ceremony will include a felicitation for 10 players from Tripura who have earned accolades in the 65th, 66th, and 67th editions of the National School Games, as well as 4 players who have excelled in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th editions of the Khelo India Youth Games”, he said.
Speaking at the press conference, the Sports Minister highlighted Tripura's track record of hosting successful national-level sports events and expressed confidence in the smooth organization of this year’s competition. Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty and Director Satyabrata Nath were also present during the announcement.
The event promises to be a celebration of sportsmanship and talent, further bolstering the state’s reputation in hosting national sporting events.
