The Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Monday demanded mandatory provision of the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) along with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok as eligibility criteria for all exams conducted by Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC).
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the TPSC, the former minister Sudip Roy Barman cited an advertisement by the TPSC regarding recruitment of Agriculture Officer and stated, “I would like to point out the gross irregularity in your Advt. No. 18/2022 for recruitment to the post of Agriculture Officer, TAFS, Gr-1, Group-B, Gazetted under the department of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare, Govt. of Tripura in the scale of Pay of Rs. 10,230-34,800/- with GP Rs. 4,800/- and pay level 13 of Tripura State Pay Matrix, 2018. I am amused by the fact that the provision of PRTC with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok has not been provided/ published as an eligibility criterion.”
Barman accompanied by the former MLA Ashish Kumar Saha on Monday met the chairman of the TPSC.
Highlighting the discrepancy, Roy Barman pointed out that this issue was previously brought to the attention of the TPSC Secretary on January 20 by a concerned candidate, but no corrective action has been taken so far.
“I hope that you would be kind enough to bring in a correction and ensure that the criterion as mentioned in the subject above be made as a mandatory provision in all future exams conducted by TPSC,” Barman’s letter stated.
