The state social welfare and social education minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday chaired a daylong workshop on different schemes of his department and its execution and said that the country can prosper only if men and women enjoys equal rights.
The workshop was held here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan. Addressing the gathering the minister said that the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education provides various services from birth to death of a person. This department has many projects in public welfare. This workshop will be instrumental in giving a fair idea about all these projects, he added.
He said that the state government has given priority to the welfare of children and women. Initiatives have been taken to expand facilities such as education, balanced food, drinking water, toilets etc. in each Anganwadi center, he said, adding that a monitoring committee has been formed in each Anganwadi center.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha are working sincerely for the welfare of children and women. There are more than 70,000 Divyangans in the state. Already more than 40 thousand Divyangans have been given UD ID cards. The Social Welfare Minister said that under the Sponsorship and Foster Care Alliance scheme for education, a child is given Rs 4,000 per month.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA Dipak Majumder said that this workshop will become effective only if the public representatives are informed about the projects of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education and make the rural people aware. He said that the state government has taken multifaceted projects for the overall development of children, women and disabled persons.
