Providing insights into the incident, Bhanupada Chakraborty, the Superintendent of Police for North Tripura District, revealed that law enforcement personnel intercepted a Suzuki BALENO car just outside Churaibari Police Station. The car was en route from Tripura to Assam.
Chakraborty stated, "Upon stopping the car and collaborating with Churaibari Police Station's Officer-In-Charge, Samaresh Das, and Sub-division Police Officer, Debasish Saha, we discovered 30 kilograms of cannabis concealed within 61 packets. The contraband had been ingeniously hidden in a concealed compartment within the vehicle."
The Superintendent of Police further elaborated that, in response to directives from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, a total of 16 checkpoint stations had been established across the state since August 19.
Chakraborty commented, "Upon inspecting the detained vehicle, we located the cannabis packets concealed within various hidden compartments. The two individuals in the car were subsequently taken into custody. They have been identified as Sudip Karmakar (41) and Dimani Debbarma (23), both residents of Sidhai Mohanpur in West Tripura District.
