The Additional Sessions Judge court of Dhalai District has convicted an accused of life imprisonment for killing a man on May 24 of 2018.
A Police Press release said that on May 16 of 2018 the deceased namely Bajyaram Reang (45) of Kalabari under Ganganagar in Dhalai District went to search his pig near the house of accused person identified as Bilanjoy Reang Bilamjoy (35) in the same village.
“At that time a hot altercation took place in between them over the issue of said pig search, and then the accused person assaulted the Baijyaram Reang by a lathi. As a result he sustained grievous injuries on his person and shifted to GBP Hospital through Kulai Hospital & during treatment he succumbed to his injuries on May 24 of 2018”, the press release reads.
It further said that on July 04 the Additional Sessions Judge of Dhalai District has convicted and sentenced the accused person namely Bilanjoy Reang Bilamjoy (35) U/S 326/307 IPC & added section 302 IPC to suffer Life Imprisonment along with fine of Rs. 1 lakh in default to payment of fine to suffer further Rigorous Imprisonment for a term of Six months for the commission of offence punishable U/S 302 IPC.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Investigating Officer SI Pradip Kumar Das of Ganganagar Police Station (now retired from service) thoroughly investigated the case and submitted charge sheet which subsequently ended in conviction.
