The opposition CPI(M) and the Left front on Saturday alleged a ‘ferocious’ attack on the party workers and leaders and demanded for a special police post and mobilisation of additional para-military forces to contain the deterioration of law and order.
The Left front convenor Narayan Kar accompanied by the CPI(M) state secretariat member Manik Dey and others met the CEO on Saturday evening and submitted a memorandum and alleged that ‘ferocious’ attack was made on CPI(M) leaders and workers at Nehal Chandra Nagar under Bishalgarh Sub-Division after the day of polling on February 17 last.
“The BJP miscreants have furiously attacked CPI(M) leaders, workers, supporters and their houses and properties at Nehal Chandra Nagar under Bishalgarh Sub-Division on February 17,” Kar alleged, adding that at least 12 CPI(M) workers were attacked.
He alleged, “Complete lawlessness has set in, in Kathalia, Nalchar under Sonamura Sub-Division, Khowai and Kumarghat, Jirania, Ranirbazar of Majlishpur AC, Ramnagar of Ramnagar AC due to continuous attack of BJP miscreants on CPI(M) and Congress workers, leaders and their houses.”
“Despite lodging FIR and making verbal complaints with the respective police stations, police are not taking any positive steps to take control of the situation and take stern measures against the perpetrators.”
The CPI(M) and the Left front in the memorandum however demanded to provide a special Police Post at Nehal Chandra Nagar for security of victims and CPI(M) workers of the locality immediately.
“Special attention may also be given in Jirania, Kumarghat and Khowai Sub- Division for mobilization of additional Para-Military forces so that further deterioration of law and order may be contained,” the memorandum added.
