In a startling incident that transpired on Tuesday night, the home of Jayanta Das Gupta, situated near Radharaman Ashram in North District, fell victim to a bold robbery. Sabita Dasgupta, the lone occupant of a single room in the house, faced a terrifying encounter with a group of dacoits during the early hours of the morning.
The distressing ordeal commenced at around 2 o'clock when Sabita, in a state of alarm, reported being tormented by a gang of dacoits since the previous day. The assailants, their faces concealed with black cloths, viciously attacked Sabita, striking her on the right side of her cheek. Armed with a dagger, the criminals menacingly warned her against making any noise, forcibly depriving her of her earring, neck chain, and hand ring in the process.
The brutality escalated as the attackers continued to assault her left hand with the dagger. Jayanta Das Gupta, the victim's son, revealed that his mother attempted to alert him after the robbers left, but he was unable to exit his room as the door had been locked from the outside. The local community became aware of the incident upon hearing distressing screams, prompting them to rush to the scene.
Bhanupada Chakraborty, the District Superintendent of Police, shed light on the ongoing investigation, mentioning that the lady was attacked with a dagger found within their residence. Authorities are diligently working to unravel the details of the crime, expressing optimism about swiftly apprehending the perpetrators. The community remains on edge, anxiously awaiting justice for Sabita Dasgupta and the apprehension of those responsible for this audacious robbery.
