DMs in Tripura asked to take precautionary measures to control malaria

Focusing on taking a strategic plan to prevent malaria in the state of Tripura in view of the ensuing monsoon season, the state health secretary Kiren Gitte on Friday chaired a crucial meeting with District Magistrates of all the eight districts of the state.

The meeting discussed the government's action plan for malaria prevention, evaluation of measures already taken, and formulation of new strategies and programmes.

The meeting discussed various important issues, including speedy completion of the release of larvivorous fish in various reservoirs, distribution of about nine and a half lakh LLIN mosquito nets, spraying of larvicide at various places and other measures.

The Health Secretary Kiren Gitte on May 14 and 15 last visited North Tripura District and Dhalai District. During the visit, he exchanged views with the hospital authorities, local people, local public representatives and directed all the districts to conduct health camps every fortnight in every malaria- infected area, house-to-house visits and create awareness among the people.
