Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated the 23rd annual dental conference here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan. The conference was organised by National Oral Health Programme, National Health Mission Tripura Branch in collaboration with Indian Dental Association Tripura Branch.
Speaking in the programme, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the Ministry of DoNER has allocated Rs 202 crore for infrastructural development of the existing dental college in Agartala. An additional building of the dental college will be established in the IGM Hospital.
He said, “Dentists play a crucial role in rendering quality medical services. The government is determined to provide quality medical services to remote villages.”
The Chief Minister also mentioned the development in the communication system of the state including the launch of tele-consultation service through e-Sanjivani for the convenience of dental patients.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Kiran Gitte said that due to lack of public awareness, people are suffering from various dental diseases. The State Government has given special importance to making dental services accessible and accessible to all, he said.
