Eight held with cannabis worth lakh rupees

Tripura Police and Government Railway Police from two different locations have arrested eight persons and seized cannabis of more than lakh rupees.

As per information, the GRP arrested seven people from the B-3 coach when the Humsafar train arrived at Dharmanagar railway station at around 8:12 am on Saturday. 27 kg of ganja was recovered from them.

According to the police, there was advance information about this from Agartala.

The police have arrested these ganja smugglers based on advance information. Two of the seven arrested are minors. They are identified as Anjil Kumar, Govind Kumar, Poltu Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar Mondal, Rajkumar Yadav, Kalulal Mondal and Sonu Kumar.

Later, saturday the Tripura Police detained a lorry loaded with cannabis at Betbagan Naka checking point in Ambassa. After searching the vehicle, 498 kgs cannabis in 36 packets was recovered.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Suman Majumdar and Ambassa Police Station Officer-In-Charge Biswajit Debbarma rushed to the spot after receiving the information. And that's where success comes in. Along with recovery of ganja from the container truck, the driver has been arrested. He was en route to Siliguri.
