With a view to conducting the impending Assembly election in Tripura in a peaceful manner the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura Kiran Gitte has taken several measures. The Election Commission, to generate awareness about the election with focus on peaceful election, maintaining communal harmony and accessible election, has organized Rangoli Festival across the state on the occasion of Poush Sankranti.
The Rangoli Festival organized on the premises of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala today, was attended by the Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte, DM, West Tripura Debapriya Bardhan and other officials.
Speaking to the media, Chief Secretary JK Sinha said, despite differing in individual views, the people of Tripura have had a tradition of working together in a peaceful manner. The CEO Kiran Gitte said that the Commission has targeted to conduct an election with zero poll violence. With that objective the Commission has organized this Rangoli Festival to spread the message of peace, harmony and accessibility, he said.
He said, the Commission is committed to conduct a free, fair and zero-violence election. He informed that about 10 lakh families have been approached to participate in this festival and already about 1.5 lakh families have taken part in this.
