To empower students digitally and encourage them to take part in the digital world to strengthen their developing skills, the state Information and Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Tuesday launched the Mukhya Mantri Yuva Yogayog Yojana special scheme here at Agartala IT Bhavan.
The special scheme was launched to assist at least 12,000 undergraduate students of the academic year 2022-23 financially to buy smart phones and empower themselves digitally, said minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
He said, “To make India a Digital India, the youth community needs to be equipped with IT skills. Central and state governments are working together for this purpose. To enrich the youth community with information technology skills, graduate students are being assisted in purchasing smartphones from the academic year 2019-20.”
The Minister further said that so far 40,215 students of the state have been given assistance to purchase smartphones under the Mukhya Mantri Yuva Yogayog Yojana scheme.
With the launch of this scheme, 7,286 students have been benefited in the academic year 2019-20, 9,579 in the academic year 2020-21, 11,892 in the academic year 2021-22 and 11,458 in the academic year 2023-24, he added.
The undergraduate students who wish to avail this facility in the financial year 2022-23 have to complete the registration process by visiting the website bms.tripura.gov.in. This process will continue till August 2 this year. In this case, applicants have to upload their photo, ration card, bank passbook, signature of the principal or responsible officer of the concerned educational institution on the smartphone purchase invoice and graduation or semester level marksheet on the website in order to get the financial benefit of Rs 5000.
