Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday emphasized that engineers should step forward to address the basic issues faced by the people and said that engineers are the face of the government.
“Engineers are the face of the government. Engineers of our country are going abroad and creating beautiful buildings and undertaking creative work. Why should this not be the case in our own country or state? We have no shortage of talent. Roads, drinking water and electricity are essential for people. These are the three important things that people want, and it is the responsibility of engineers to implement them. There will be no shortage of government funds to support developmental work,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha said this while inaugurating a voluntary blood donation camp and a felicitation ceremony for meritorious students organized by the Tripura State Engineers Association at Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala on Sunday.
The Chief Minister also applauded the Engineers Association for undertaking social programs like blood donation in addition to fulfilling their professional duties.
In his inaugural speech, he urged engineers to come forward to solve the basic problems of people.
“Many times it is seen that roads are blocked due to poor road condition. People want roads, electricity and drinking water, nothing more. So the responsibility of ensuring these services falls on the engineers. Why should people have to sit on the streets and protest to get these basic necessities? We have seen such protests before. The current government aims for the overall development of all sections of people. Whatever needs to be done by the government for the development of the state will be done,” he said.
Dr. Saha stated that the state government has taken various innovative initiatives to provide purified drinking water to the people.
“Engineers must work responsibly to ensure these activities are well-implemented. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also emphasized the importance of their efficiency,” he said.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing development projects on time and mentioned that initiatives have been taken to discuss various issues with DM, SDM, and engineers through video conferences.
He also highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation, urging people from all parts of the state to come forward and donate blood to save lives.
Additionally, Dr. Saha noted that the government has prioritized providing better medical services to the people of the state, implementing various activities, including the establishment of a super specialty hospital and a dental college.
“I have also requested the Centre to build a high-quality hospital in the style of AIIMS in the state. Recently, a PHC in the state was awarded. Overall, the government is working for the development of the health system,” he added.
