Food and civil supply Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today inaugurated a voluntary blood donation camp organized on the occasion of Brahma-Sheetala-Kali Puja at Krishnatali under 10 Majlishpur Assembly Constituency.
After inauguration, the minister said that standing by the side of a people during their problems and extending a helping hand is the identity of an ideal person.
"Every moment hundreds of people are being defeated in the battle of life for a single drop of blood. It is not desirable to us in any way. By donating blood voluntarily we can save many precious lives. It is possible to save the life of a dying person by our voluntary blood donation", he said.
He said although many achievements have been made in modern medical science, artificial blood has not yet been discovered.
"As a result, all patients who require additional blood for any reason, then that blood has to be collected from the body of a healthy person. This is why blood donation is considered a great donation", said Chowdhury.
He said that at present, the amount of blood stored in government blood banks is much less than the demand. Buying blood privately costs a lot of money.
"Moreover, there is a fear of getting infected with pathogens. That's why we all have to take initiative and organize blood donation camps regularly. Perhaps the noblest and most sacred of the interdependent dutiful programs of civilization is the saving of human life", he said.
He said it is not always possible for us to directly save the life of an innocent person.
"So perhaps the most significant and important act in this regard is blood donation. Many people die every year just from lack of blood. So if we are able to save the lives of those people in exchange of a very small amount of blood in our body, then it will be the ultimate goal of civilized human life".
He thanked all the blood donors who donated blood in this great blood donation camp today for their service and mentality.
He wished good health and bright future to all the blood donors attending the blood donation camp.
