In a major development to the incident of escape of militant from the Bishalgarh Kendriya Sansodhanagar on Tuesday last, an FIR has been lodged against the warden and the guard commander of the prison.
The Warden identified as Tapan Rupini and the Guard Commander Md. Mafiz Mia is accused of helping a prisoner, Swarna Kumar Tripura, escape from the Central Correctional Home in Bishalgarh, Sepahijala District.
In a letter to the Officer In-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station, the Superintendent of the Kendriya Sansodhanagar on Tuesday states, “As per CCTV footage of the concerned place of occurrence, Shri Tapan Rupini has been found unauthorizedly present in the said ward and also help to open the concerned lockup at about 8 PM on 13/05/2024 night wherein Swarna Kr. Tripura was lodged.”
“It is also found that during escape from his block at about 12.45 AM on 14/05/2024 (as per CCTV footage), he was carrying a bag which might have some jailbreaking tools and which may facilitate his escape and also it may have a plan to facilitate escape of other prisoners. Hence, according to preliminary assessment the role of Tapan Rupini, Warder and Md. Mafiz Mia, Guard Commander of Kendriya Sansodhanagar, Tripura, was found to be suspicious. They are involved in harboring the escape of said convicted prisoner from secured jail custody,” the letter stated.
