In a tragic turn of events a fierce fire engulfed a residence in East Haflong Ward No. 6, leaving the house owner Babul Nath and his family in a state of utter despair. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night and the Dharmanagar fire department responding promptly to a distress call from the Agartala control room worked tirelessly to bring the inferno under control.
The flames fueled by the intensity of the fire took nearly an hour for the firefighters to suppress. Unfortunately, the adjacent poultry farm suffered extensive damage as well. Preliminary estimates by fire officials indicate that the overall loss is expected to exceed 8 lakh rupees.
Babul Nath, the owner of the ravaged house recounted the heartbreaking loss of not only the property but also precious belongings. Gold ornaments, sewing machines and household items including Rs 2 lakh in cash were reduced to ashes in the devastating blaze.
Firefighters on the scene speculated that a short circuit might have triggered the fire but a thorough investigation is required to unveil the true cause of this tragic incident. The fire department has assured a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
