Tripura Police arrested five individuals and seized brown sugar from Agartala city on Friday when they were selling these contraband items near MBB College.
Addressing the issue, Officer-in-Charge Sanjit Sen of East Agartala Police Station stated that acting on confidential information, a raid was conducted in Shivnagar and Kalyani areas of Agartala, resulting in the apprehension of five suspects and the confiscation of 16 grams of brown sugar.
"In addition to the arrests, a scooty was also impounded from the suspects. The estimated market value of the seized brown sugar is approximately Rs 10,000. We received a tip-off yesterday evening indicating that some individuals were involved in the illicit sale of contraband near MBB College in Agartala. Based on this intelligence, we conducted the raid leading to the apprehensions," said the OC.
He further identified the arrestees as Biswajit Nama, Joel Miya, Sujit Saha, Liton Das, and Biki Tanti.
"These individuals were allegedly involved in the distribution of drugs in the vicinity of the college. An NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case has been registered against them, and they will be presented before the court to seek police remand," he added.
