Within 24 hours of the attack on the News Editor of Tripuratoday news web portal Bapi Ray, police of East Agartala Police Station in its prompt action have detained at least 5 youths in connection to the case on Sunday.
Journalist and news editor of the news web portal Bapi Ray was attacked by a group of miscreants on Saturday night at around 10:30 PM here at Agartala Ganaraj Chowmuhni, where the journalist had sustained injury on his head.
The 5 detained youths were identified as Titan Deb, Dipankar Guha, Atrajit Das, Jiban Das and Sagar Deb, all residents of GB 79 Tilla area.
The officer in-charge of the East Agartala Police Station Sanjot Sen said that all the detained youths were forwarded to the court seeking jail custody till the completion of investigation. He further informed that a case has been registered against all five accused under sections 341, 325, 384, 34 of the IPC.
He however assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the motive behind the attack and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
