The state finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Tuesday inaugurated a daylong workshop on government e-Marketplace (GeM) here at Agartala Town Hall and said that the e-Marketplace initiative is to prevent corruption in public procurement and ensure transparency in the governance system of the state.
“The Tripura government has purchased various goods worth Rs. 497 crore through the e-Marketplace of GeM portal since 2017. For this achievement, the Central Government awarded Tripura as the best performing state among the North Eastern states,” he said, adding that the government is working to further expand the e-marketplace.
He said, “We aim to include this portal at Zilla Parishad, Gram Panchayat and Village Committee level as well.”
On the other hand, the Secretary of finance department Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty said, “The GeM portal is not only for government offices. Initiatives have been taken to involve medium and small scale and micro industries, so that they can sell their products outside the state through GeM.”
Additional CEO of Central Government GeM Portal Yogendra Kumar Pathak, State Nodal Officer Amardeep Gupta, Deputy Secretary of Finance department Punit Kumar, and others were present in the workshop.
'Electrification of railway network in NE set to be completed within a year'
