Four Bangladeshi nationals held from Agartala rail station for illegally entering India

In yet another crackdown on illegal infiltrators, the police of Government Railway Police (GRP) jointly with the RPF on Thursday detained at least four Bangladeshi nationals including three women from Agartala railway station.

The officer in-charge of GRP station Tapas Das informed that based on an intelligence input on Thursday last, the police of both the GRP and RPF laid an ambush inside the rail station and later suspecting their movement towards the platform no. 1, all the four Bangladeshi nationals were detained.

The Bangladeshi nationals were identified by the police as Shuklal Debnath of Bangladesh Chattogram district, and the rest three women – Ruzina Begum, Ruma Akhtar and another Kakoli Begum.

On interrogation, the male Bangladeshi nationals informed that he was supposed to travel to Kolkata through the Tripurasundari express and the rest three women said that they were supposed to travel to Delhi through the same train from Agartala, he told reporters.

“We have found no valid documents from them,” he said, adding that a specific case has been registered against the trio under the IPC Passport Act and Foreigner’s Act.
