In yet another major crackdown on illegal infiltration, the police of GRP and Railway Protection Force on Saturday detained at least 4 Bangladeshi nationals and another Indian tout from Agartala railway station.
The Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Jahangir Alam (21), Emam Hussain (26), Omran Hussain (19) and another Riad Hussain (22), while the Indian tout was identified as Rafikul Islam of Sonamura in Sepahijala district.
The officer in-charge of the GRP station at Agartala Tapas Das informed that the Bangladeshi nationals along with the Indian tout was seen entering into the Agartala railway station on Friday night to board a train for Chennai. Police suspected their activity and later detained them from the station, he informed.
Preliminary probe revealed that the Bangladeshis crossed the borders illegally with the assistance of the Indian tout. However, police claimed that more inputs would be known during investigation.
All of them were booked under IPP Act and Foreigners Act along with some sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), said Das.
