Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated the newly built Agartala Dashamighat and said that the government has been implementing multiple projects to beautify the capital city of Agartala.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated other allied infrastructure under modern management in the Howrah River Front Development Project (HRFD).
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the government is working on various plans for the development and renovation of the Howrah River, which caters to the need of the people of Agartala in terms of drinking water supply.
The Chief Minister mentioned the various benefits of the Howrah River Front Development Project and said that the project involves flood prevention, prevention of river bank erosion and strengthening of the Howrah river embankment. Moreover, the project also include construction of Situnala treatment plant to de-pollute the water of Howrah river, construction of road for pedestrians, non-motorized cycle track, footbridge over the river, provision of vegetable and flower cultivation through organic farming on the banks of the river to create livelihood of the people of the river area, he added.
He also said that through this project, the Dashamighat of Howrah river will also be developed as an aesthetic tourist spot. The Chief Minister said that under the direction of the Prime Minister, the state government is constantly working for the public interest.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA Deepak Majumdar said in the event that Dashamighat, the attractive center of Agartala city, has been decorated with modern management. This initiative is for the citizens of the state to enjoy the idol worshiping phase comfortably. He mentioned various arrangements at Dashmighat, starting from paved ghat, lighting, evening aarti. He asked the government as well as the people of the local area to come forward for the maintenance of this Dashamighat.
