Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring balanced development across both rural and urban areas.
The government's efforts to promote cultural diversity outside Agartala were further bolstered by the launch of a five-day cultural fair and exhibition at Baragol in the Kadamtala block of North Tripura. The event, organized by the North Tripura District Information and Culture Office in collaboration with Aradhana Cultural Organization, aims to preserve and enhance rural folk culture by incorporating rural fairs into the state's cultural calendar.
Minister Tinku Roy, who inaugurated the fair, emphasized that funds are being allocated for organizing cultural programs, festivals, and fairs throughout the state. He assured that the government is committed to fostering balanced development from villages to cities.
During his speech, Minister Roy also addressed the growing concern of drug addiction in the state, underscoring the need for youth protection and rehabilitation. He announced the construction of a drug de-addiction center in Bishramganj at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, with plans to establish similar centers in every district.
The fair features 14 exhibition stalls from various government departments, displaying a wide range of products, along with an art gallery. Cultural performances will be held throughout the event, showcasing both local and out-of-state artists. Planned events include Baul and folk music performances, Dhamail, Jhumur, Kathinritya, quizzes, debates, drama, and poetry gatherings.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including North Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhdhipati Aparna Nath, social worker Kajal Das, North Tripura District Additional District Magistrate Biplob Das, Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti Chairman Mihir Ranjan Nath, Kalachhara Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Tinku Sharma, and Kadamtala Block BDO Sanjeev Debnath. The event was presided over by Baragol Gram Panchayat President Pradeep Nath.
