Govt committed to make farmers self-sufficient through floriculture: Minister Ratan Lal Nath

AGARTALA:

The state agriculture and farmers’ welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday inaugurated a one-day orchid training and sapling distribution program here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan and said that the government is committed to make the farmers of the state self-sufficient through floriculture.

Addressing the event, the minister said that the initiative aims to provide farmers with the knowledge and resources to succeed in this profitable agricultural sector.

The minister encouraged the farmers to actively engage in the cultivation of orchids, which is considered a lucrative crop with potential for both local and international markets. The government is taking proactive steps to expand orchid cultivation in Tripura, with special training programs being organized to teach farmers the best practices and techniques for growing orchids, he added.

Nath expressed hope that this initiative would not only increase the income of farmers but also contribute to the state’s agricultural diversity and economic growth.
