In a collaborative effort, the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate and officials from the Food Department conducted a sudden raid on Maharajganja market today, uncovering a series of irregularities.
The operation revealed a multitude of violations, including the sale of expired goods and the illegal storage of fair price rice.
During the raid, authorities confiscated 10 sacks of fair price rice from a local shop, shedding light on potential malpractices within the distribution of essential commodities. Additionally, two illegally stored cylinders were seized during the thorough inspection.
An official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that notices would be issued to shops found guilty of widespread irregularities. The move comes as a response to concerns about the surge in the price of rice produced within the state. Several shops in Maharajganj were inspected this morning to ensure compliance with pricing regulations.
The official emphasized that the operation is part of an ongoing initiative to maintain transparency and fairness in the market. With the price of rice on the rise in recent days, authorities are committed to upholding consumer rights and preventing any exploitation within the local markets.
The joint efforts between the Sadar SDM and the Food Department underscore the government's dedication to tackling issues related to the distribution of essential goods and ensuring the well-being of the community. As the investigation continues, officials have affirmed their commitment to conducting further operations in the coming days to address any potential violations and maintain the integrity of the market.
