In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, the District Magistrate of West Tripura district has announced temporary traffic restrictions and no-parking zones in certain areas of Agartala city. The measures are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and the safety of citizens during the festivities.
According to a notification issued today, the traffic restrictions will be in effect from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on August 15. During this period, the following types of vehicles - private vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, rickshaws, and pushcarts - will not be allowed to ply in specific areas of the city.
The restricted areas include Gorkhabasti to the south, Buddha Mandir to the north, Malanch Nivas to the circuit house.
However, it's important to note that this restriction will not be applicable to vehicles carrying school children.
The notification also provides an alternate route for patients who need to access GB Hospital during the specified hours. Patients seeking medical attention at GB Hospital are advised to use the route via Abhaynagar Bazar-Kumaritila.
Furthermore, the notification designates certain areas as no-parking zones during the mentioned period. The areas where parking will not be allowed include both sides of the road from the main gate of Old Raj Bhavan to Buddha Temple, both sides of Old No. 1 MLA Hostel - Cantonment Road from Buddha Temple, the area from Buddha Temple to Abhaynagar Post Office
Air travelers are also advised to plan their routes accordingly. Passengers traveling to the airport are encouraged to use the Durga Chaumuhani to Barajala road (via Panchabati Kalimandir) to ensure a hassle-free journey.
