Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the Tripura government is contemplating to establish an international standard Ayurveda and Yoga school here in the state to tap the trade potential of the state with South-East Asia.
Dr. Saha was speaking in a discussion on 'One Earth-One Health: Advantage Healthcare India 2023' at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed the event virtually, where the Union Minister Mansukh L Mandaviya and the health ministers of other countries were present.
The Chief Minister emphasized on setting up an Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit in Tripura by utilizing the resources of herbal plants available in the state.
He said, “Tripura will soon become the gateway to South East Asia once the connectivity with neighbouring Bangladesh through Sabroom ‘Maitri’ bridge becomes operational. This will create commercial opportunities in the state.”
Referring to the international summit of AHCI – 'One Earth One Health', Dr. Saha said, “Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, India’s vision of “One Earth, One Health” which involves holistic healthcare for all creatures will help to prevent diseases, reduce cost, improve food security and save lives.”
“Tripura is working on a dynamic and progressive policy in health services. Many patients from neighbouring Bangladesh come to Tripura for treatment. If world class medical infrastructure is developed in the state, then the people of Bangladesh will also be benefited from it,” he said, adding that the people of Bangladesh can avail medical services at low cost.
The Chief Minister also said that in this case there is ample opportunity to coordinate modern medical methods with AYUSH. This service is in great demand among the citizens of Bangladesh, he added.
