Govt spend Rs 500 Cr in 5 years to develop tourism infrastructure in Tripura, says Minister Sushanta Chowdhury

The state tourism minister on Monday claimed that Tripura tourism is set to achieve its unique identity in the coming days with further enhancement of the tourism infrastructure.

In response to the queries of the MLA and Chief Whip of the state legislative assembly Kalyani Ray, the minister informed the assembly that Tripura will be able to achieve a unique place on the tourism map of India in the coming days. About 500 crore rupees have been spent in the last five years for the development of infrastructure in the tourism sector of the state.

He said that initiatives have been taken to beautify important tourist centers in the state through the Swadesh Darshan scheme. Work is progressing to beautify Tripureshwari Temple, Neer Mahal, Dumbur, and Chabimura. 50 boats and two modern buses have already been purchased for use in water bodies located at tourist spots in the state, he said, adding that Tripura has all the facilities of modern tourism.

The tourism minister said in the assembly that through the Swadesh Darshan 1.0 project, the infrastructure development work of tourist centers like Agartala, Sepahijala, Melagarh, Udaipur, Amarpur, Mandirghat, Tirthamukh, Narikelkunja, Dumbur, Ambassa, Neer Mahal and Baramura has been completed.

The infrastructural development of Mata Tripurasundari temple at a cost of Rs 37.80 crore has reached its final stage by Ministry of Tourism to develop it as a spiritual tourism centre, he said.

District-wise package tours will be arranged in the coming days to make the state's tourism industry more attractive. Initiatives have already been taken to start home stays at various places, he added.
