Govt to set up 28 more 33 KV power sub-stations in state: Ratan Lal Nath

Emphasizing the indispensable role of electricity in the advancement of civilization, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated a pivotal 33 KV substation and a two-storey control room in Chintarampara, Hejamara block today. Minister Nath underscored that electricity stands as a cornerstone in the development of any society, asserting that progress and growth are intrinsically tied to its availability.

Noteworthy is the allocation of INR 9.84 crores towards the construction of this vital 33 KV substation and accompanying control room. The communities of Barakathal, Israi, Chachu, Sonai, Battala, Dumakari, Urabari, and the surrounding areas are set to reap the benefits of this newly established substation in Chintarampara.

During the inauguration, the Power Minister also highlighted that a significant portion of the state's electricity is presently derived from natural gas. He disclosed ongoing efforts towards exploring alternative power generation methods in anticipation of the eventual depletion of underground gas and coal reserves. The state has set an ambitious target of generating 500 MW of solar power by 2030. It's worth noting that prior to 2018; there were only 38 operational 33 KV substations in the state. Over the past five years, an additional 23 substations have been erected, and plans are underway for the construction of 28 more.

Ranjan Debbarma, General Manager of Tripura Power Transmission Limited extended a warm welcome during the event. MLA Brishketu Debbarma, MDC Rabindra Debbarma, Hejamara BAC Chairman Sunil Debbarma and other distinguished guests were also in attendance.
