Govt to take strict action for non-disclosure of high power appliances: Ratan

AGARTALA:

In a stern warning, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath declared today that stringent measures would be enforced against consumers who fail to disclose information regarding high-power electric appliances within the next 10 days.

Addressing reporters, Minister Nath emphasized the Electricity Department's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state.

"Consumers must be more mindful of their electricity usage. Agartala city registers the highest consumption in the state. We have introduced a new hotline, 6033132082, dedicated to swiftly resolving electricity-related issues for customers of Agartala Circle No. 1, complementing the existing 1912 service available round the clock," he announced.

Highlighting the challenges faced, Minister Nath acknowledged occasional power cuts amid assurances of no scheduled load shedding.

"The unusually high temperatures this year have prompted increased use of refrigerators and air conditioners, exacerbating the strain on our infrastructure. Failure by consumers to notify us about their AC usage has resulted in damage to transformers and other equipment, necessitating power interruptions," he cautioned.

Minister Nath urged legitimate consumers to seek prior approval from the Electricity Department for additional electricity consumption and promptly disclose details of high-power appliances.

"Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will result in necessary actions being initiated," he concluded.
