Govt working for development indigenous tribes in Tripura: CM Dr Manik Saha

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated state level Basanta Utsav here at Agartala and lambasted the then government and the CPI(M). Dr Saha said that the former government attempted to expunge the history of Manikya dynasty in Tripura.

Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister Dr Saha claimed that it is only after the formation of BJP government in Tripura, when the Manikya dynasty was paid due respect and honour.

The government is working for the development of the indigenous tribes of the state of Tripura, he said, adding that adequate fund has been allocated in the state budget for the development of indigenous people and overall development of the state.

“We must be committed to preserve our culture and tradition. Basanta Utsav was celebrated during the time of Manikya dynasty, where people of all community used to participate and celebrate the festival,” Dr Saha added.
