Sudhangshu Das, the Minister of Scheduled Castes Welfare, declared a comprehensive developmental agenda for individuals belonging to Scheduled Castes on Thursday. The Scheduled Caste Welfare Department is actively engaged in implementing various financial and social development plans for the SC community in the state.
A significant step in this direction was the provision of financial aid to small businesses specializing in pump machines, musical instruments, leather crafts, and cleaning services. The event, held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki bhaban in the capital, saw Minister Das inaugurating the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his address to the attendees, Minister Das underscored the department's unwavering commitment to fostering the economic and social well-being of Scheduled Caste individuals. He highlighted the joint efforts of both state and central governments in executing diverse schemes aimed at the holistic development of the state's residents. Noteworthy among these initiatives was the recent launch of the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana scheme, which Minister Das encouraged attendees to join. The scheme offers one-time financial assistance to scheduled caste students, with applications accepted until March 6. Additionally, scholarships covering 43 different courses are available for SC students pursuing higher education.
Minister Das also revealed plans for private tuition for Scheduled Caste students, organized by unemployed youths from hostels and funded by the Schedule Caste Welfare Department. A pending decision was mentioned regarding the appointment of one sports teacher in each hostel.
The event witnessed the presence of other notable figures, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, and various dignitaries.
