Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday unveiled the statue of Tripura’s last king Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur here in the premise of Agartala MBB University and said that the younger generation should know and be aware of the contribution of Tripura’s Maharaja in the education sector of the state.
“Government is working diligently to highlight Maharaja's contribution in the field of education to the next generation,” Dr Saha, adding that the Tripura education sector is moving forward with the ideology and thinking of Maharaja Bir Bikram.
He said, “Maharaja’s dream was to expand the education system and develop better infrastructure and to fulfil the dream of Maharaja, the Tripura government is putting utmost effort to enhance the education sector ensuring quality education for all.”
The Chief Minister said that the infrastructure of MBB University, the pride of the state, is not less than any other university in the country. He said, “The state government wants MBB University and MBB College to become the 'art of excellence' in the education sector of the state. Only then the tendency among the children of the state to study abroad will be reduced.”
He however lambasted the previous Left front government and said that the previous government had neglected the contribution of Maharaja and suppressed the history.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Secretary of Education Department Ravel Hemendra Kumar MBB University Vice-Chancellor Professor Satyadeo Poddar and Registrar Dr. Sumanta Chakraborty among others were present in the programme.
