The state food and civil supplies and transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday claimed that the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura is committed to ensure better livelihood options for the farmers.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was addressing a gathering of farmers here at Jirania Madhabbari. The Minister inaugurated a paddy procurement centre at Jirania and said that the initiative of procurement of paddy has been enhancing the livelihood of farmers through doubling up their income.
“Never like before, the BJP after forming government in Tripura started procuring paddy directly from the farmers, so as to double up their income,” he said, adding that the previous government did nothing for the welfare of the farmers rather than cheating them for the last 25 years during their tenure.
He said, “To ensure that the yield of farmers is sufficient to earn them a quality living, the state government is providing quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides. Krishak Bandhu Kendra and Krishak Gyan Arjan Kendra are being opened in every agricultural sub-division to provide proper advice to the farmers. Besides, arrangements are being made to ensure that the farmers get the right price for their produce. Moreover, the government is procuring paddy from the farmers at a minimum support price.”
