Worried of the emergence of the TIPRA Motha regional party led by royal scion Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Monday said that the TIPRA Motha has a secret understanding with the opposition CPI(M) and the Congress party.
Shah on Monday landed here at Agartala to sound poll bugle in Tripura and addressed a rally in Shantirbazar area.
Taking potshots at the TIPRA Motha party, Shah said, “The TIPRA Motha has opened its door to help aid the CPI(M) form government in Tripura back again. Even if the Congress and the Motha are voted in the ensuing election, the Communist party will get the mileage to form a government back in Tripura.”
“I don’t understand what tempted the TIPRA Motha party to go for secret understanding with that of Congress and CPI(M) which deprived the tribal groups in the state for long during their tenure,” he said.
He said, “The Congress and Communists ruled Tripura for over 50 years, yet there was no development. The Congress has given you 'andhakaar' (darkness), but have given you 'adhikaar' (rights).”
Shah also claimed that the Narendra Modi government has ensured development of the Northeast, ending years of neglect.
“Tripura, once known for drug-trafficking, violence, insurgency & corruption, is now known for development, growth, peace & prosperity. All this has been possible because of the state BJP government,” he said.
