Huge cache of drugs, arms and ammunition seized; 1 held

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the police of Amtali police station accompanied by the BSF troopers on Thursday detained one suspected drug smuggler from his residence at Motinagar village.

The accused smuggler was identified by the police as Sundar Ali, son of late Abdul Kader Miah of Motinagar village under Amtali police station. Police seized a huge cache of drugs including 59,200 Yaba tablets, a country-made pistol, two magazines, eight live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, 50 bottles of Phensedyl, 23,550 Bangladeshi Taka, and a currency counting machine. The estimated market value of the seized items is reported to be over Rs 2 crore.

The incident took place on Thursday morning after the police of Amtali police station led by the officer in-charge and BSF troopers executed an operation in Motinagar village.

Reportedly the seized items were stored in the house of his brother, Rafikul Islam, who has been residing elsewhere due to health issues.
