IMD predicts heavy rainfall in state, issues yellow alert

AGARTALA:

The Meteorological Centre, Agartala has issued a Yellow warning for the state for heavy rainfall due to deep depression in the Bay of Bengal.

A press release from Meteorological Centre, Agartala said that Yesterday’s low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman & Nicobar Islands moved west-northwestwards, concentrated into a depression and lay centered today.

“It is likely to move initially northwestwards then north-northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast in the morning of 16th November. Thereafter, it would recurve north-northeast wards and reach over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast on 17th morning & off North Odisha-West Bengal coasts on 18th November morning. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tripura during 16th to 18th November 2023”, the press statement reads.

It further issued yellow warning from 15th November to 18th November across the state.
