Along with the rest of the nation, Tripura is readying the deck to celebrate India’s Independence Day with patriotic fervour across the state.
The celebration will begin from August 13 with the Har Ghar Tricolor campaign, where the tricolor will be hoisted in all houses and residence.
The main function of the Independence Day celebration will be held here at Agartala Assam Rifles’ Ground on August 15 next, with the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to host the tricolor.
After hoisting the flag, the Chief Minister will receive guard of honour. Later the Chief Minister will address the people of the state on this occasion. A cultural program will be held.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the national flag will be hoisted at every house in Agartala in the Har Ghar Tiranga program on August 14. Open cross country race of 3 km for women and 5 km for men has been organized at Umakanta Academy premises at 6 am. On this day, city cleaning program has been organized in different places of Agartala city.
On August 15, the Independence Day celebration program will begin at 5 a.m. with a morning procession of students from various schools. This morning ferry will cover different routes of Agartala city.
The national flag will be hoisted at various government and private residences during the Har Ghar Triranga programme.
Power Minister Ratanlal Nath will hoist the national flag at the secretariat premises at 7 am on August 15. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu will garland the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the statue premises adjacent to Circuit House at 8 am. Then the Governor will offer garlands at Gandhivedi at Gandhighat at 8:15 am. At 8:35 am, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu will pay homage at Shaheed Minar at Elbert Ekka Park in Lichubagan.
