Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday laid the foundation stone for building Integrated Public Health Laboratories in three districts of the state through video conferencing from Agartala Pragna Bhavan and said that this will fortify the health infrastructure of the state and will ensure better health care services to the people of this state.
The laboratories will be built in the three districts of North, Unakoti and Gomati under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM ABHIM) to fortify the healthcare infrastructure of the state.
The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Chief Minister of Assam Dr Hemanta Biswa Sharma, Union Minister of State Bhagwant Khuba, and others of the union government joined the video conferencing to make their presence in the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Addressing the gathering Chief Minister said that the main objective of the government is to ensure better health services for all in the state. He said, “To provide accessible and quality health services to the people, the Government of India has initiated various free health check-ups.”
He said that the Integrated Public Health Laboratory will work to improve disease monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment at the district level. Initially various laboratories will be brought under one roof, which will speed up disease monitoring, he added.
The integrated public health laboratories can provide accurate and timely information for assessment, research and policy decision-making for disease detection, prevention and timely action in public health, he said, adding that the Integrated Public Health Laboratory will have about 147 testing facilities.
The chief minister also said that the state government aims to set up integrated public health laboratories in every district. So far Integrated Public Health Laboratories have been set up in two districts and equipment has been installed in Dhalai and South Tripura districts. These will be launched soon. Initiatives are being taken to set up Integrated Public Health Laboratory at Khoai District Hospital and Melaghar Sub-Divisional Hospital of Sepahijala District, he said.
