To make the students aware about road safety and consumer rights, the government is set to launch ‘Jagriti’ – an awareness programme from January 11 next, said minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the civil secretariat, the minister said that from now on every year in January and February, Food Department and Transport Department will organize this program jointly.
As a part of this programme, quiz competitions on road safety, consumer rights protection and ill effects of drug addiction will be organized among the students of 25 degree colleges of the state, he told reporters.
He said that a quiz competition has been organized for the students of degree colleges of Gomati, South Tripura and Sepahijala districts on the day of the launch of this program in Udaipur on January 11. Similarly, quiz competition will be held on January 18 at Kumarghat among students of Degree Colleges under Dhalai, Unakoti and North Tripura districts and on January 27 between students of Degree Colleges in West and Khowai districts at Agartala, he added.
The final quiz competition will be organized on February 8 at Agartala with the three best quiz teams from each of the previous events, he said, adding that attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competition. Apart from quiz competition, helmet distribution among college level students and rally on road safety, consumer rights protection and ill effects of drug addiction will also be organized as part of this programme, he added.
