The opposition CPI(M) state secretary and the leader of opposition Jitendra Choudhury on Tuesday accused the BJP candidate for East parliamentary constituency Kriti Singh Debbarma over allegedly calling the CPI(M) as ‘Party of killers’ on her statement during the election rally held at Fatikroy on Monday last.
In a complaint written to the Chief Electoral Officer of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Jiten stated, “BJP candidate from 2-Tripura East(ST) PC of Tripura. On 8 April, 2024, at Fatikroy of Unakoti District (51-Fatikroy (SC) Assembly Constituency) Smti Debbarma while addressing the masses, unsubstantially termed CPI(M)a nationally recognized party as "CPM Manush Khuner Party" i.e. "CPI(M) is a party of human killer.”
“By maligning the CPI(M) in such manner without any substantiation, Smti Debbarman clearly violated the above rule. Unfortunately, this low-nature slandering has been made by none but a candidate who herself is accused of a murder case (Case No. WPCR No. 765 of 2021, Chattisgarh High Court,) now under investigation by CBI being ordered by the Chatisgarh High Court Dated 10.1.2022. Dauntless Smt. Debbarman even dared to defy the mandatory electoral rule by not mentioning the pending criminal case against her in her Nomination paper,” the complaint to ECI reads.
Choudhury in his letter sought the intervention of the ECI and demanded measures against Kriti Singh Debbarma for her ‘obnoxious’ allegation violating MCC.
