Leader of opposition Jitendra Chaudhury today demanded to take legal actions against one the minister in the state for reportedly indulging in propagating communally provocating detrimental messages in social media platforms, to incite the people of the state at large.
In the letter to the Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Chaudhury who is also an MLA said that the three youths who were arrested for verbally assaulting traffic police.
“…I was extremely shocked and surprised to learn that all those three accused got bail and that too permanent bail. Being under severe public reaction, though the police had shown some positive gesture by arresting the miscreants, but it is more astonishing that, even after directly and openly obstructing and threatening the on duty police personnel (government servant) for dire consequences, specifically mentioning their casts, how the arrested accused persons could get permanent bail, without being under custody even for a single day, and particularly when the SP of the West Tripura district had informed publicly that they were arrested under the Atrocities against the ST/SCs Act and charge under the appropriate sections of the said Act was leveled against them”, he said.
Chaudhury pointed out that had the sections of the ST/SC Atrocities Act been leveled against the accused, then they were not supposed to get bail so early and so easily, at least before six months.
“I would, therefore, like to request you for not considering this matter merely as simple as releasing three antisocial elements, rather this will certainly encourage the miscreants and anti-social hooligans s of the state, as a moral boost up, to further criminalizing their misdeeds, which they are continuing and increasing day by day for last 6/7 years”, he said.
Jiten said that the overall law and order situation of the state is already under severe threat in the criminal hands of these miscreants, which can easily figure out from three consecutive serious incidents took place in the state, in series, within last two and half months period, namely the incidents of Gandatwisa, Kaitorabari and Kadamtala.
“In such a grave situation of the state, such type of soft and casual approach to deal with the hardcore criminals is obviously going to further inspire and encourage the already active anti-social elements throughout the state, At the same time, it is being observed with serious concern and deep regret that, even responsible person, like Minister of your good cabinet, is directly indulging in propagating communally provocating detrimental messages in social media platforms, to incite the people of the state at large, which should also be taken into cognigence immediately and such misdeeds from the part of responsible person should also be brought under the purview of law of the land, without any delay or hesitation, at least for good health and well being of the state and to establish true example that law is equal for everyone, at least in Tripura”, he added.
