Jiten opposes delisting of converted tribals from ST status

AGARTALA:

The CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on Monday reacted sharp on the demand of delisting tribals converted to Christian religion from ST status and said that the Janajati Suraksha Manch (JSM) backed by the BJP and RSS is trying to break the unity among the tribals of the state.

“The Janajati Suraksha Manch is trying to instigate communal violence by putting such demands. They also announced to go for a delisting rally on December 25 on the day of Christmas celebration to press for their demand, which is nothing but a communal appeal,” he told reporters.

He however demanded the government to disallow the tribal body to organize their delisting rally on the day of Christmas celebration. He also demanded the government to check the demand raised by the JSM and act accordingly to ensure that there are no communal clashes and disharmony in the state.
