In a significant development for the people of Tripura, General Manager of Eastern Frontier Railway, Chetan Kumar Srivastava announced a promising update regarding the extension of the much-anticipated Kanchenjunga Express to Sabroom. After a thorough inspection of the Agartala-Sabroom railway line, Srivastava expressed confidence that the project could materialize within the next six months, although it may not be in time for Durga Puja.
A delegation from the Railway Department, led by Srivastava, accompanied by Assistant Commandant of BSF No. 96 Battalion, Arun Panth and officials from Sabroom sub-division administration paid a visit to Sabroom on Tuesday to assess the progress.
Srivastava commenced his inspection at the Sabroom railway station early in the morning, meticulously scrutinizing the station's infrastructure. The visit culminated with the inauguration of the station's running room.
Later in the day, Srivastava proceeded to the ICP ground adjacent to the Bharat Bangla Maitri Setu at Sabroom. Assistant Commandant Arun Panth provided detailed information about the Bharat Bangla Maitri Setu and the ongoing construction of the Integrated Check post (ICP).
Addressing journalists, Srivastava emphasized the focus on evaluating the quality of rail line electrification work and road repairs. He also shed light on plans for extending the railway line up to the under-construction ICP at Sabroom, further enhancing connectivity in the region.
The announcement comes as a beacon of hope for the residents of Tripura, who have eagerly awaited the extension of the Kanchenjunga Express to Sabroom, anticipating increased accessibility and connectivity in the area. While Durgotsavam may not witness this development, the projected timeline of six months offers a promising outlook for the project's completion.
