The state agriculture and farmers welfare department minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday inaugurated Rabi Krishi Vigyan Mela at Khowai and said that the Vigyan mela is a part of the Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week, which aims to establish a sustainable agricultural system and enhance the livelihood of the farmers of the state by making them self-reliant.
Farmers can achieve revolutionary progress by adopting proper techniques and advanced technologies to enhance soil fertility, he said, adding that both the Central and state governments have taken various steps to increase the income of farmers. Farmers are being benefited with the government’s initiative of procuring paddy at Minimum Support Price, he said, adding that the state ranks second in betel nut production, fourth in cauliflower production, fourth in pea production and second in soybean production. He called on all the farmers to come forward and be prosperous in science-based modern farming.
