Residents of Bidyabil in Asharambari assembly constituency took to the streets in protest over a week-long electricity outage, amid scorching temperatures. The demonstration resulted in the blocking of the Khowai-Kamalpur 208 National Highway, as locals demanded urgent reforms in the electricity supply.
For seven days, Bidyabil residents endured the sweltering heat without power, worsening their daily struggles. Despite multiple complaints to the Tulashikar power department regarding voltage fluctuations and frequent outages, their pleas were ignored, exacerbating water shortages and disrupting daily life.
The blockade, lasting nearly two hours, caused inconvenience to commuters and attracted the attention of Champahor police station. Despite initial attempts by law enforcement to disperse the protesters, the blockade persisted.
In response to the escalating situation, the SDM intervened, engaging with demonstrators and providing assurances of action. After discussions with the SDM and receiving assurances of swift resolution, the blockade was lifted, offering temporary relief to the disgruntled residents of Bidyabil.
